Frequently asked questions

Getting started

Do I need crypto experience? No, but you do need a wallet and some ETH on the right network. Start with Getting started, then Getting ETH onto Robinhood Chain. The app's Learn section covers the absolute basics.

Which network is this? Robinhood Chain mainnet, chain ID 4663. The real site is https://honkfun.com. All the contract addresses are on Network and addresses.

Can I try it without spending real money? Yes. There is a full test version at https://testnet.honkfun.com running on Robinhood Chain testnet, with free test ETH from a faucet. You can launch, buy, sell and watch a token graduate there. Nothing on it has any value and nothing carries over to the real site.

How do I get ETH to start? Bridge ETH you already hold onto Robinhood Chain. See Getting ETH onto Robinhood Chain.

Launching

How much does it cost to launch? Nothing to Honkfun. You pay network gas only.

Auto-Burn, Standard or Tax-Free, which should I pick? Standard pays you most: 0.7% of every trade against Auto-Burn's 0.4%. Auto-Burn pays you less and burns 0.3% of the token on every trade instead, so supply shrinks forever. Tax-Free charges holders nothing at all and pays nobody, so you earn nothing from it ever.

Standard and Auto-Burn are a choice between paying yourself and shrinking supply. Tax-Free is a different decision: you give up your income entirely to make the token as cheap as possible to trade. You cannot change any of it afterwards.

If Tax-Free pays me nothing, why would I pick it? Because it costs a holder nothing to trade. There is no fee on any buy or sell, so no round-trip loss and no drag on the price from fees. That can matter more to a community than the creator's cut does. It is a genuine trade: you are choosing the token's appeal over your own income, permanently.

Does Tax-Free stay free after graduation? Not quite. A Uniswap pool has to charge something, so a Tax-Free token carries a small pool fee once it graduates. Everything that pool collects is used to buy the token back and burn it, so it still goes to holders as reduced supply rather than to anyone as income.

Should I graduate to Uniswap V3 or V4? You pick at launch and it is fixed for life, like the token type.

Choose V4 if a cheap pool matters to you. V3 only allows a fixed set of fee tiers, so a token has to take the nearest one, which is why a Tax-Free token on V3 lands at 0.05% rather than lower. V4 lets the pool carry its own fee.

Choose V3 if you would rather be conventional. It has been running longer, every pool has its own address, and more third-party tools handle it without special treatment.

Everything else is the same: the graduation fee, the permanently locked liquidity, and the creator, burn and treasury shares. See Graduation.

Can I change the name or ticker later? No. Name, ticker and supply are fixed at deployment. Artwork and links can be updated.

Can I change how my token page looks? Yes, through your AI agent. You can pick a theme, colours and typeface, choose which optional parts appear, reorder them, and add a description and links. The safety card, the Buy and Sell panel and every number on the page stay exactly as they are on every other token. See Customising your token page.

Should I buy my own token at launch? It is optional. Doing it in the same transaction gets you the lowest price on the curve before anyone else can trade. Your buy is capped by the anti-snipe rules like everyone else's, and the dialog shows your maximum. The amount starts at zero and stays disabled until you tick the box, so you cannot do it by accident.

My token launched but the page is empty. It takes a few seconds to be indexed. The page retries automatically for about a minute.

Trading

Why did my trade fail? Most often slippage: the price moved more than your tolerance while the transaction was pending. Other causes are listed in Trading and pricing.

My buy reverted seconds after a launch. That is the anti-snipe window. In the launch block only the creator can buy; for a short window after that no wallet may hold more than 5% of supply or buy more than 5.5%. Wait a few seconds and try a smaller amount.

Why can I not buy or sell at all? The token has probably just sold out its curve and is waiting to graduate. Both directions are frozen during that window. It is normally under a minute.

Why does selling take two transactions? The first is an approval, letting the contract move that token for you. It is a one-off per token; later sells need one transaction.

I bought and sold straight away and lost money even though the price went up. On Standard and Auto-Burn, each leg pays the 1% fee, so a round trip is always a loss. On a Tax-Free token the curve charges nothing, so only gas and price impact apply.

What happens if I try to buy more than the curve has left? You get exactly what is left and the rest is refunded. The trade succeeds rather than being rejected. There is a Fill curve chip if you want to do this deliberately.

How much does it take to graduate a token? About 4.2 ETH of net buying, plus the 1% fee on top where the type charges one. That is the curve's 793,100,000 token allocation selling out.

Why does this graduated token have no pool address? Because it graduated to Uniswap V4. Every V4 pool lives inside one shared contract and is identified by an ID rather than having its own address, so there is no separate pool contract to link to. A V3 token does have one. Both are equally real.

Can an AI agent trade for me? An agent can trade with its own wallet, once you have claimed it and it has proved that wallet. Honkfun holds no key material and cannot sign anything, so it prepares an unsigned transaction and the agent signs it itself. That also means an agent can never spend from your wallet unless you hand it your own key, which is entirely outside Honkfun. See AI agents.

Fees and rewards

What does trading cost? It depends on the token's type. Auto-Burn and Standard charge 1% per trade, both directions: Auto-Burn is 0.4% creator, 0.3% burned, 0.3% platform, and Standard is 0.7% creator, 0.3% platform. Tax-Free charges nothing at all.

The app says "zero-fee minting", is trading free? That phrase refers to launching only. Trading is free on Tax-Free tokens and costs 1% on the other two types.

Does the fee change after graduation? Auto-Burn and Standard keep the same 1%. Tax-Free goes from nothing to a small pool fee, because a Uniswap pool cannot charge zero. Whatever that pool collects on a Tax-Free token is used to buy the token back and burn it, so nobody is paid from it.

Does Uniswap keep part of the pool fee? It can, but on these pools that setting is off, so the whole pool fee reaches the locker and is split by the token's launch percentages. It is a Uniswap setting rather than a Honkfun one, and it is not ours to switch either way. If it is ever turned on it would take between a tenth and a quarter, and shares are always worked out from what actually arrives.

Is the burn in ETH or in tokens? Always in tokens. Pool fees accrue in both ETH and the token, and both halves end up as burned tokens: the token half is destroyed directly, and the ETH half is spent buying the token back out of the pool first, with those bought tokens then destroyed. No ETH is ever burned, so a burn always reduces supply and the ETH half also puts buy pressure into the pool on the way.

Where are my creator rewards? Before graduation, on your token's page below the trade panel, visible only to the creator wallet and only when there is a balance. After graduation they sit in the locker and need a collect step first. My tokens shows both streams for everything you have launched. See Creator rewards.

I launched a Tax-Free token and there is no rewards card. That is correct and cannot be switched on. Tax-Free tokens charge no trade fee, so there is nothing to share with anyone. After graduation the pool does earn a little, and all of it is burned rather than paid out.

My token graduated and my rewards stopped. They did not stop. Pool fees need somebody to run the collection before they can be claimed, and anyone can do it, including you: Run Collect & Burn on the token page, or the Keeper page. There has to be at least 0.005 WETH accrued for it to go through. On a cheaper pool that takes more trading to reach, so those burns arrive in larger, less frequent batches.

Can the team raise fees on my token? Not on a token that already exists. Terms are fixed at launch, for life. Changes apply only to later launches. Tax-Free's zero is not even a setting, it is part of the type, so there is no value anyone could change to put a fee on one.

Tokens and safety

Two tokens have the same name. Which is real? Neither, inherently. Names and tickers are not unique. Check the contract address.

Does Honkfun have its own token? No. Honkfun has not launched a token of its own. Anything advertised as an official Honkfun token is not from us.

Can I pay to promote my token? No. There is no paid promotion, no boosting and no way to buy placement on Honkfun, and there is no token of any kind that buys visibility. Every token is listed on the same terms. Treat any offer to promote or boost a token on Honkfun, from anyone, on any channel, as fake.

What does the risk badge mean? It summarises how concentrated the supply is. It is a signal, not a verdict, and no token is checked or approved by anyone.

Can the creator pull the liquidity after graduation? No. The position is held by the Honkfun locker, and there is no code path anywhere that can remove liquidity or move the position out. Not for the creator, not for the team. That is true on both venues.

Is anything burned when a token graduates? No. The curve has to sell out for graduation to happen, so there are no unsold tokens to burn, and circulating supply does not jump at migration.

A token page looks completely different from the others. Is it fake? Not necessarily. A creator can restyle their own token's page. The safety card, the Buy and Sell panel and every number stay exactly as they are on every other token, and buy is always green and sell always red. Creator links always show the site they really go to. See Reading a token page.

What do the token statuses mean?

StatusMeaning
pendingCreated, waiting to confirm on-chain
live / unpausedTrading normally on the curve
pausedTrading has been halted
migratedGraduated to a Uniswap pool
failed_to_initializeThe launch transaction never succeeded, so the token was never deployed

Some of these show as raw text on the token page. failed_to_initialize means there is nothing there to trade.

Account

Can I change my username? Once. After that it is locked.

Why can I not comment? Comments are for holders. You need to hold the token and be signed in.

What notifications will I get? One kind: a creator you follow launched a new token. Nothing else generates a notification today.

How do I message someone? From their profile, using the Message button. There is no search or new-message composer on the Messages page.

How do I earn points? By referring someone. When a person who used your code makes their first transaction, a buy, a sell or a confirmed launch, you both get a point. Entering a code on its own earns nothing, and trading or launching earns nothing unless a referral is attached to it. See Rewards, points and referrals.

What are points worth? Nothing today. There is no way to spend them. They rank you on a leaderboard. See Rewards, points and referrals.
