Launching a token
Open Create in the top bar. It is a single step: fill the form, pick a type, confirm in your wallet, and the token is live.
What you fill in
| Field | Required | Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Yes | The display name, e.g. MoonShot |
| Ticker | Yes | Up to 8 characters, automatically uppercased, shown with a $ |
| Description | Yes | Up to 280 characters |
| Coin image | Yes | PNG, JPG, GIF or WebP, up to 10 MB |
| Coin banner | No | Same formats and limit. Falls back to your coin image if you skip it; if you do upload one it must be a different file |
| Website | No | A normal domain |
| No | An x.com/handle link | |
| Telegram | No | A t.me/handle link |
The right-hand panel previews your token card live as you type. That is exactly how it will appear on the market.
Images are uploaded to IPFS and referenced by the token itself, so the artwork is not hosted only by Honkfun.
Choosing a type
This is the one decision you cannot undo. It sets what every trade costs and where that money goes, for the life of the token.
| Trade fee | You earn | Burned | Platform | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Auto-Burn | 1% | 0.4% | 0.3% | 0.3% |
| Standard | 1% | 0.7% | none | 0.3% |
| Tax-Free | 0% on the curve, a small pool fee after graduation | none | everything the pool collects, after graduation | none |
Auto-Burn destroys 0.3% of the token on every trade, on the curve and after graduation, so supply falls forever. Standard has no burn and pays you the full creator share instead. Tax-Free charges holders nothing at all while it is on the curve, and nobody earns from it, including you.
None is better than the others. Auto-Burn and Standard are a choice between paying yourself more and making the supply shrink. Tax-Free is a different decision entirely: you give up all income from your token in exchange for it being the cheapest thing on the market to trade.
Be certain before picking Tax-Free. It cannot be changed later, and it means you will never earn anything from your own launch. See Creator rewards.
The type is signed into your launch approval, so it is locked the moment you press Create, and every token page displays which one it is.
Choosing where it graduates
The second choice fixed at launch is the venue: which version of Uniswap your token moves into when its curve sells out.
| Uniswap V3 | Uniswap V4 | |
|---|---|---|
| Pool fee | One of Uniswap's fixed tiers | Set per pool, so it can go lower |
| The pool | Has its own address | Lives inside Uniswap's shared pool manager, identified by an ID |
| Liquidity | Locked permanently | Locked permanently |
Pick V4 if a cheap pool matters to your token. V3 makes you take the nearest available fee tier, which is why a Tax-Free token there lands at 0.05% rather than lower. V4 lets the pool carry its own fee.
Pick V3 if you would rather be conventional. It has been running longer, every pool has its own address, and more third-party tools understand it without special handling.
Everything else is identical. The graduation fee, the locked liquidity, and the creator, burn and treasury shares all work the same either way. Like the type, the venue cannot be changed afterwards. See Graduation.
What Tax-Free costs after graduation
Free trading applies fully while the token is on the curve. Once it graduates, a pool has to charge something, so a Tax-Free token carries a small pool fee instead of the 1% the other types use. On V3 that is the 0.05% tier, the cheapest one whose fees build up fast enough to be collected and burned in practice.
Everything that pool collects is used to buy the token back and burn it. None of it goes to you and none to Honkfun, so it reaches holders as shrinking supply rather than as income to anyone.
Uniswap can also switch on a protocol fee of its own for any pool, worth up to a quarter of the trading fee. On Honkfun's pools it is off today. That switch belongs to Uniswap, not to us.
The burn is in the token, never in ETH: fees that arrive as ETH are spent buying the token back first, and those tokens are what get destroyed. Fees and burns covers the detail.
What you pay
Nothing to Honkfun. There is no platform launch fee. You pay only the network gas to deploy the contract.
The costs that follow come later, from trading. See Fees and burns.
The first-buy option
After you press create, a dialog offers to buy some of your own token in the same transaction that creates it.
This is optional but worth understanding. Your buy executes before anyone else can trade, at the lowest point on the curve, and it puts supply in your hands rather than leaving the whole float open to snipers.
The amount starts at zero and the field is disabled until you tick the box, so you never buy by accident.
Your buy is capped. The anti-snipe rules apply to the creator exactly like everyone else, so no wallet, yours included, can hold more than 5% of supply during the opening window. The dialog shows your maximum in ETH and the presets are fractions of it, so you cannot accidentally build a transaction that reverts.
If you skip it, the token still launches normally.
Protection at launch
Every launch gets the same opening protection, automatically:
- In the launch block, only your buy executes. Every other wallet's buy reverts.
- For a short window after that, two blocks and in practice something like half a minute, no wallet may hold more than 5% of supply or buy more than 5.5% of supply in total.
- Then it is gone permanently. After the window there are no limits.
Selling and ordinary wallet-to-wallet transfers are never restricted, at any point.

After you confirm
- Your wallet asks you to approve the transaction.
- The token is deployed and you are taken to its page.
- For a few seconds the page says the token is live on-chain and waiting to be indexed. That is normal, and the app retries for about a minute while the trade history catches up.
From that moment the token is tradable by anyone, and on Standard and Auto-Burn you start earning your share of every trade.
Making the page your own
Once your token is live, its page can be restyled through your AI agent: colours, typeface, which optional parts appear and the order they sit in. The safety card, the Buy and Sell panel and every number on the page stay exactly as they are. See Customising your token page.
What you cannot change afterwards
- Name, ticker and total supply are fixed at deployment. Supply is 1,000,000,000 and nothing can mint more.
- The token type, the fee split and the venue are snapshotted at launch and immutable for the life of your token. Later protocol changes only affect tokens launched after them.
- Your payout address can be handed over, but only by you proposing it and the new address accepting. No admin can do it for you. You do it from My tokens.
- The links and artwork can be updated, because the token URI can be changed by the creator.
