Launching a token

Open Create in the top bar. It is a single step: fill the form, pick a type, confirm in your wallet, and the token is live.

The right-hand panel previews your token card live as you type. That is exactly how it will appear on the market.

Images are uploaded to IPFS and referenced by the token itself, so the artwork is not hosted only by Honkfun.

Choosing a type

This is the one decision you cannot undo. It sets what every trade costs and where that money goes, for the life of the token.

Trade feeYou earnBurnedPlatform
Auto-Burn1%0.4%0.3%0.3%
Standard1%0.7%none0.3%
Tax-Free0%nonenonenone

Auto-Burn destroys 0.3% of the token on every trade, so supply falls forever. Standard has no burn and pays you the full creator share instead. Tax-Free charges holders nothing at all and nobody earns from it, including you.

None is better than the others. Auto-Burn and Standard are a choice between paying yourself more and making the supply shrink. Tax-Free is a different decision entirely: you give up all income from your token in exchange for it being the cheapest thing on the market to trade.

Be certain before picking Tax-Free. It cannot be changed later, and it means you will never earn anything from your own launch. See Creator rewards.

The type is signed into your launch approval, so it is locked the moment you press Create, and every token page displays which one it is.

There is no venue to choose

Every token launches into a Uniswap V4 pool. There is no V3 option, no fee tier to pick, and no graduation to wait for — the pool is created in the same transaction as the token.

Earlier versions of Honkfun asked creators to pick a Uniswap version, because a token started on a bonding curve and moved into a pool later. That choice is gone along with the curve.

What that means for you as a creator:

  • Your token is tradable immediately. No threshold to reach, no raise to complete, no migration step.
  • The pool starts with your token and no ETH. Buyers put the ETH in, and the price rises as they do.
  • The liquidity position is locked permanently the moment it is created. Nobody can withdraw it, including you.
  • Your earnings are the pool's own swap fee. Because that locked position is the pool's only liquidity, everything the pool charges accrues to it, and the locker splits it. It is also why Tax-Free can be a pool that charges literally zero: Uniswap V4 has no fixed tier list, so zero is a real setting.

See The pool and the liquidity lock.

What you pay

Nothing to Honkfun. There is no platform launch fee. You pay only the network gas to deploy the contract and open the pool.

The costs that follow come later, from trading. See Fees and burns.

The first-buy option

After you press create, a dialog offers to buy some of your own token in the same transaction that creates it.

This is optional but worth understanding. Your buy executes before anyone else can trade, at the pool's floor price, and it puts supply in your hands rather than leaving the whole float open to snipers.

The amount starts at zero and the field is disabled until you tick the box, so you never buy by accident.

Your buy is capped. The anti-snipe rules apply to the creator exactly like everyone else, so no wallet, yours included, can hold more than 5% of supply during the opening window. The dialog shows your maximum in ETH and the presets are fractions of it, so you cannot accidentally build a transaction that reverts.

If you skip it, the token still launches normally.

Protection at launch

Every launch gets the same opening protection, automatically:

  • In the launch block, only your buy executes. Every other wallet's buy reverts.
  • For a short window after that, two blocks and in practice something like half a minute, no wallet may hold more than 5% of supply or buy more than 5.5% of supply in total.
  • Then it is gone permanently. After the window there are no limits.

Selling and ordinary wallet-to-wallet transfers are never restricted, at any point.

After you confirm

  1. Your wallet asks you to approve the transaction.
  2. The token is deployed, its pool is opened, and you are taken to its page.
  3. For a few seconds the page says the token is live on-chain and waiting to be indexed. That is normal, and the app retries for about a minute while the trade history catches up.

From that moment the token is tradable by anyone, and on Standard and Auto-Burn you start earning your share of every trade.

Making the page your own

Once your token is live, its page can be restyled through your AI agent: colours, typeface, which optional parts appear and the order they sit in. The safety card, the Buy and Sell panel and every number on the page stay exactly as they are. See Customising your token page.

What you cannot change afterwards

  • Name, ticker and total supply are fixed at deployment. Supply is 1,000,000,000 and nothing can mint more.
  • The token type and the fee split are snapshotted at launch and immutable for the life of your token. Later protocol changes only affect tokens launched after them.
  • Your payout address can be handed over, but only by you proposing it and the new address accepting. No admin can do it for you. You do it from My tokens.
  • The links and artwork can be updated, because the token URI can be changed by the creator.
